Drawing a triangle and a hexagon inside a circle
Follow these steps to draw an equilateral triangle and a hexagon inside a circle:
- Setting your compass at the radius of the circle, draw arc 2-3 from any point of the circumference (1).
- Keeping the same radius, draw an arc from point 3 to obtain point 5. Follow the same procedure from point 2 to obtain point 4.
- Follow the same procedure from point 5 to obtain point 6, and so on until you have drawn what looks like a flower inside the circle.
- Join up the six points to form a hexagon or join up every other point to form an equilateral triangle.
Activities:
Draw an equilateral triangle and a hexagon in the two circles.
Materials:
A pencil, a compass, a ruler and a set square.
